Community Practitioners – Seagrass Nurseries
The following Community Practitioners are working on developing seagrass nurseries in Europe:

Prof. Dr. Laura Govers
Rijksuniversiteit Groningen & Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research.
Project Affiliation:
Laura is working with seed based Nanozostera noltii restoration methods in the Wadden Sea, and with transplant based Nanozostera noltii methods in the Wadden Sea, Veerse Meer, Grevelingenmeer and Oosterschelde, Netherlands. Laura is also working with Nanozostera noltii transplants in the Étang de Berre and in the Parc naturel marin du Bassin d’Arcachon, France.

Riccardo Pieraccini

Project Affiliation:
Riccardo works on Zostera marina seed priming and plant hardening techniques to enhance restoration success and improve plant propagation in nurseries. He has worked on both seed- and sod-based restoration of Z. marina in the Wadden Sea (annual ecotype) and in Ria Formosa and Arrábida, Portugal (perennial ecotype). Additionally, Riccardo has worked on water quality and blue carbon in Cymodocea nodosa (Calvi Bay, France).
