Bárbara is a marine ecologist and her research focuses on the ecology of intertidal seagrasses and the use of remote sensing based techniques to improve our understanding of coastal ecosystems. Bárbara has devoted much of her research to investigating the spatial and temporal dynamics and ecological functions of the seagrasses Zostera marina and Nanozostera noltii.

Christina is working with satellite remote sensing to map the intertidal seagrass meadows along the north coast of Spain.
