The following Community Practitioners are working on Zostera marina restoration programmes in Europe:

Prof. Dr. Laura Govers
Rijksuniversiteit Groningen & Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research.

Project Affiliation:
Laura is working with both seed based Zostera marina (annual ecotype) and transplant restoration methods in the Wadden Sea, and with transplant based Zostera marina methods in the Veerse Meer, Grevelingenmeer. Laura is also working both seed based Zostera marina (annual ecotype) and transplant restoration methods in the Oosterschelde, Netherlands.

Riccardo Pieraccini
Universiteit Gent

Project Affiliation:
Riccardo works on Zostera marina seed priming and plant hardening techniques to enhance restoration success and improve plant propagation in nurseries. He has worked on both seed- and sod-based restoration of Z. marina in the Wadden Sea (annual ecotype) and in Ria Formosa and Arrábida, Portugal (perennial ecotype). Additionally, Riccardo has worked on water quality and blue carbon in Cymodocea nodosa (Calvi Bay, France).
