The European Zostera noltii restoration community
(“The Noltii Network”)

Dwarf eelgrass (Zostera noltii) is found in both the intertidal and shallow parts of both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean (up to ~3m depth).
Zostera noltii forms both continuous and patchy meadows in shallow coastal and transitional ecosystems. Across the ESRA community both seed-based and transplant-based restoration strategies are being adopted.
The European Zostera noltii restoration community is growing rapidly, with regular collaboration and knowledge exchange now being facilitated through the ‘Noltii Network’. The Noltii Network has been coordinated by ZSL since December 2022.
